Job Description

Summary The Services Regional Application Engineer Asia, will drive services engineering growth in power plant services through technical leadership in gas turbine and plant upgrades across various countries in the South Asia and Southeast Asia region. In this role he/she will provide primary technical solutioning support for the installed base customers and the GEV commercial/sales teams in Asia region to drive cross-functional business results in upgrades for contractual and transactional upgrade opportunities and contract renegotiation activities. Additionally, this role will be responsible for connecting the regional GT team with the Services Applications Centers of Excellence team to appropriately leverage the technical capabilities of the broader Product Line and Engineering organizations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO process while interfacing with the commercial team. Possesses an understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client need: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases.

• Strategic partner of the regional sales team and participate in regional sales/proposal strategy development
• Address all technical issues that will impact the ability of the GE supplied equipment to comply the customer/project requirements. Process Cost & Shipment Estimates to define scope, price and schedule impacts of all special, non-standard scope and options that are necessary to support the proposal. Provide in-depth, detailed comments and exceptions to the customer specifications to be included in the GE proposal document to the customer. Participate in customer technical clarification meetings as needed.
• Provide technical direction for proposals based on agreements with Commercial Operations and interpretation of the upgrade requirements. Achieve agreement with Commercial Operations, Projects, etc. concerning scope of supply and internal responsibility for same
• Ensure accurate plant/product definition, configuration, and equipment requirements that meet both customer and contractual requirements
• Make technical presentations to customers and other GE functions
• Responsible for appropriate risk reviews and mitigation plans during the ITO phase
• Initiate all required product and project technical requests to Engineering that require Engineering sign-off, using the tools appropriate for the information being requested
• Champion LEAN principles and embrace LEAN, continuously challenge and take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes, procedures and deliverable in ITO engineering organization

Qualifications/Requirements

• B.Tech/M.Tech Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Aerospace Engineering from Institute of repute
• Min 4 to 7 years experience in gas turbine-based power plant including system design, performance & cost evaluation
• Experience in Gas / combined cycle power plant operations, maintenance
• Strong understanding of gas turbines offerings
• Upgrade offering selection experience based on system specifications & cost.
• Global mindset with a willingness to understand different cultures and work collaboratively
• Effective time management skills & multitasking ability.
• Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills

Desired Characteristics

• Field experience on GE heavy duty Gas Turbines B/E or F frames
• Gas Turbine / Combined cycle performance engineering experience, knowledge of running GTP tool, perf runs for GT / CC will be a differentiator.
• Domain expertise or knowledge on HA Technology (design, commissioning, Application Engg, Performance Engg) will be a huge bonus.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Gas turbine design, manufacturing, or assembly/ test experience.
• Customer interface experience
