:\xef\xbb\xbf PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Regional Director ASEAN (Primary Industries) plays a key role in identifying, developing and promoting business development opportunities in Singapore and the broader ASEAN region for Western Australian businesses with a focus on primary industries.CORPORATE CONTEXTThe Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (the Department) is Western Australia\'s lead agency for economic development, international trade and investment, and tourism. It also leads the promotion and development of the defence, international education, science, and innovation sectors in Western Australia.GROUP CONTEXTThe Strategy and International Engagement Group provides strategic policy advice on state development issues, leads initiatives for significant investment in large and complex projects in Western Australia, supports a network of international offices to promote Western Australia and its industries and encourages strategic investment and trade opportunities.OPERATIONAL CONTEXTInvest and Trade Western Australia acts as the Western Australian Governments front door to assist investors and businesses wanting to engage with the States world-leading industries, while also providing support to local business to reach their export potential. Invest and Trade Western Australia consists of a hub in Perth, Western Australia as well as representation across six regions: ASEAN, Greater China, India-Gulf, North East Asia, United Kingdom/Europe and the Americas. This extensive network works closely with government and industry to attract investment, promote trade opportunities and showcase the Western Australia as a global destination to live, work, study, invest and do business.ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver investment attraction and trade promotion strategies between Western Australian food and wine producers and importers and distributors in the ASEAN region.
  • Support Western Australian companies seeking to attract investment from, and grow trade with, Singapore and broader ASEAN markets.
  • Initiate, plan and manage programs and activities to generate interest and awareness of Western Australian primary industries businesses in Singapore and broader ASEAN markets.
  • Provide support and guidance to Invest and Trade Western Australia staff across ASEAN offices in relation to primary industries activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on ASEAN markets trends and intelligence, policy developments, market entry strategies, tariffs and import regulations to share with Western Australian Government stakeholders and Western Australian exporters.
  • Develop and represent the Department at industry events, engagements, conferences, exhibitions, roadshows and meetings in the ASEAN region to promote the States priority sectors, with a focus on primary industries
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders in Western Australia and ASEAN to develop market intelligence, identify market trends and target specific business opportunities for Western Australia businesses.
  • Develop and maintain relevant high-level professional networks and relationships in Singapore, the broader ASEAN and Western Australia, for the benefit of Western Australian businesses, agencies, institutions and organisations.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of primary industries related delegations and missions to Singapore and the ASEAN region as well as outbound industry delegations to Western Australia.
JOB REQUIREMENTSEssential
  • Considerable experience in and/or sound understanding of the investment and trade activities related to the primary industries sector in Western Australia and Australia for the Singapore and broader ASEAN market.
  • Strong professional networks within the ASEAN region in relation to the primary industries sector.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key industry and business stakeholders, governments and professional networks.
  • Events management, project management and budgeting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
