About the Illiquid Asset Operations (IAO) Team:

This position is in the Illiquid Asset Operations (IAO) group. The IAO group oversees the out-sourced fund administration functions including property and fund accounting, client reporting and performance measurement for direct Real Estate vehicles and Sustainable Investments in APAC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the team responsible for the financial reporting and operational aspects for several real estate investment vehicles including overseeing the out-sourced fund administration function, ensuring timely and accurate completion of vehicle financial statements, liaising with third service providers and interfacing with current and potential investors on information requests.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the finance and operations of the Real Estate and Sustainable Investment business in APAC
  • Sit on Valuation Committees as required
  • Sit on DWS/DB governance boards as required
  • Provide first point of contact for finance, regulatory and operational escalations, and queries for internal stakeholders, in particular the business heads, the COO for Illiquid Operations, Risk Management, the Control Office, and Internal Audit
  • Manage a multi-location team (Australia/Korea/HK/Singapore) including:
- Ensuring local practices, while varied, are still in alignment and compliance with group policies and local requirement
- Managing HR related matters including staffing/resourcing/succession planning etc * Responsible for the interface between the business and DWS Finance and COO to enable DWS to get product and business level information. For example, fund performance, AUM and management fees
  • Responsibility for all Internal Audits
  • Oversee and manage cross-business initiatives and requirements. Ensuring they are effectively implemented.
  • Contribute to new product launch and be the key regional interface for product/fund life cycle management
  • Control and manage the regional relationships with the key external service providers; (each local team will manage the day to day with local service providers) to the finance and operations functions of the Illiquid funds. For example, auditors, administrators, and treasury counterparts
  • Provide technical and escalation support to the Accounting and Operations groups within IAO, to ensure they can effectively manage their areas in line with group KOPs
  • Ensure new global policies/procedures are properly cascaded and implemented effectively for IAO in various APAC locations.
Your Skills & Experience:
  • Real estate accounting knowledge in both fair market value and historical cost method preferred
  • Experience with real estate funds and separate accounts including those with master/feeder vehicle structures preferred
  • Four-year college degree required with a concentration in accounting or related business field
  • Minimum 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in public accounting and/or a real estate accounting position
  • CPA required
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Motivated, self-started with the ability to problem solve
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of managing a team of finance professionals
