We are looking for an ambitious Regulatory Affairs Manager who will lead projects and mission-critical work across a wide range of regulatory challenges faced by both brands and B2B suppliers across the region. Reporting to the Head of Science & Regulatory Affairs, this role will support and manage team members to achieve FIA\xe2\x80\x99s ambition of being the leading organisation in navigating and shaping food policy and regulatory developments in Asia. With more than 40 FIA member companies working closely with FIA, our expectations are that you will have:
Excellent critical thinking skills and an ability to react quickly and thoughtfully to challenges as they emerge across multiple markets and different product categories
Expert in conducting quality research and analysis of global/regional/country regulatory trends and have the confidence and competence to give recommendations to senior executives in food and beverage companies
Be prepared to develop strategic thinking skills and strategy implementation to tackle some of the industry\xe2\x80\x99s biggest challenges
Understand the impact of global trade/health policies on the food industry and how the industry can navigate changing policy priorities and new legislation
Work in a fast-paced environment with senior leaders of various multinational food companies and a dynamic team with diverse expertise and cultural background
Develop important job-related skills such as project management, stakeholder management and analysis; presenting to a range of senior executives and officials working in the industry
Demonstrable management skills operating in a small team environment to ensure work is completed to a high standard and on schedule as well as coaching skills to support junior members of the team develop
Perform cross-functional support working closely with public affairs team and the CEO of FIA
Prepared to travel to host events and be part of conferences and workshops in the region and engage with a variety of stakeholders
Main responsibilities
Manage FIA\xe2\x80\x99s workstreams that cut across the issues dealt under FIA\xe2\x80\x99s strategic focal areas, with a primary focus on ingredients-related issues
Develop position papers and advocacy plans to advance industry\xe2\x80\x99s interest across a wide range of issues, including topic-specific areas and broad aspects on trade facilitation in the region
Prepare and manage FIA\xe2\x80\x99s member meetings and with external stakeholders, including agenda setting, meeting preparation, facilitation of discussion and reporting
Research, analyse and maintain FIA\xe2\x80\x99s internal resources, such as stakeholder maps, landscape reports, position papers etc
Manage large research projects that are conducted in collaboration with external partners and agencies
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders from private and public sectors, and support with managing relationships with FIA\xe2\x80\x99s network of national industry associations
Participate and present at stakeholder meetings, events and conferences and report back with gathered insight
Provide advice to food companies on specific regulatory enquiries
Conduct and manage regulatory consultancy work on an ad-hoc basis
Manage team members in Singapore and retained consultants in other markets across a wide range of work and ensure quality and standards are met consistently
Expected to build rapport and communicate with members on a regular basis and to support attracting new companies to join FIA
Represent the organisation at meetings and participate in speaking engagements
Support managing FIA\xe2\x80\x99s sister association, ASEAN Food and Beverage Alliance (AFBA), by conducting strategic planning and implementation of tactics that are consistent with the Association\xe2\x80\x99s vision, mission strategy and long-term goals
Desired Skills & Experience
6-8 years of relevant work experience related to ASEAN and Asian markets
A degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Science and Nutrition, Nutrition or related fields is essential
Solid and demonstrable understanding of food regulations and the dynamics of markets in the region
Self-starter, able to work independently as well as in a small collaborative team
A problem-solver with good analytical skills and attention to detail
Demonstrable inter-personal skills and able to work with multiple stakeholders
Able to work across different cultures and generations
Strong English communications skills both written and spoken
Background of working in a food/beverage company or consultancy highly desirable
Fluency in Mandarin is highly desirable and would be critical to parts of the work
