Provide technical support and cooperation with the origination and M&A teams from the operative region of APAC for the analysis of business opportunities and initiatives in all the region (China, Australia, Japan, Korea among others) related with wind farm, PV plants and BESS projects. Compile, process and analyze the technical information needed for the project assessment in order to ensure the application of uniform criteria when considering different investment alternatives enabling the best selection of projects. As a Senior Engineer, you shall be involved in different analysis concurrently and responsible for the big-portfolios analysis. She/he shall be also involved in the revision capex estimation of other teammates as part of the internal procedure and shall give also any other technical support needed. Beyond that, will take active part in the development of internal processes and other corporate tools.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the scope of the technical assessment of the potential new projects in all the stages according to the internal practices: early development, advance development, ready to build, pre-construction, under construction, commissioning or operational projects.
  • General technical assessment, including location and physical connections
  • Project layout and footprint assessment, including influence area, occupied lands, noise receptors, existent infrastructures interferences, as HVL, etc
  • Environmental conditions assessment, as altitude, temperature, seismic, wind, etc
  • Ground conditions assessment, including geology, geotechnical and hydrology
  • Electrical system studies assessment, as short circuit study, load flow analysis, etc
  • Identify the global project administrative state, identifying the principal technical constraints and hazards for getting the final licenses and estimated deadlines
  • WTG technology assessment
  • Assess the route survey feasibility and main works and the main access and roads and cranepads design and technical specifications
  • Coordinate with Technology the review of the selected principal equipment, modules, racking system and inverters, verifying the technical capability of the inverter model and the defined PPC and SCADA system for the grid code compliance

  • Coordinate the review of the project substation and interconnection substation designs, including the HV and MV equipment, the Integrated Control and Protection systems, metering, auxiliary
  • Coordinate the review of the design of the High Voltage Line and materials technical specification
  • For those projects in pre-construction or construction phases, and also for operational projects when applicable, it will be performed a technical assessment including Construction contracts and related warranties, QA/QC plans, Construction planning up to COD
  • Identify the technical upsides and levers that optimize the project, mitigating identified technical risks, reducing CAPEX and/or increasing the revenues. Execute the needed predesigns of the civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructures of the power plant to implement each of the levers
  • Prepare an accurate and optimum CAPEX estimation of the potential project or investment opportunity
  • Evaluate the technical risk of the project, identifying all the factors that could affect the development, design, construction and commissioning of the future power plant and assessing its probability potential consequences
  • Assess the project master plan from the Vendor, considering the inputs related permitting from the Business Development area, and developing the own schedule for the engineering, procurement and construction phases
  • Support the Legal, M&A and Business Development teams along the preparation of the Supplemental Purchase Agreements and Development Service Agreements, ensuring that all the agreed technical scopes and conditions are well covered
  • Coordinate the planned works and project information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams, collaborate closely with various departments including M&A, Development, Origination, Procurement, Finance, Energy Assessment and O&M
  • Produce the projects preliminary principal finding reports and the final Technical Due Diligence report including the technical assessment
  • Actively develop and manage reports to management by producing regular and frequent project status updates and other reporting documents
Requirements
  • Master\'s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years experience in technical/engineering and construction management experience in the renewables energy industry
  • Strong knowledge of Solar PV and Wind technologies, as well as relevant BOP engineering
  • Strong knowledge of HV electrical infrastructures projects
  • Knowledge of contracting Engineering Services and EPC\'s regarding renewable energy projects (performance requirements, warranties, LD\'s, etc.)
  • Knowledge of engineering and market economics and design optimization
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to renewable energy including civil and electrical engineering designs and detailed drawings, construction-related processes, environmental, and cultural studies.
