What will you be doing?

Did you know that Argus Crude oil pricing has been entrenched in the world’s global markets since 1979?
With nearly 50 years of history in crude oil market reporting and a robust methodology that reflects real trading behaviour, our methodology has been adopted in a wide range of commercial contracts, internal transfer pricing, tax formulae and economic modelling used by governments, traders, refiners, exchanges and financial institutions.

We are looking for a highly driven, enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join our Asia team in Singapore. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical, inquisitive, numerate and literate market analyst, consultant, broker to transfer their skills and knowledge to a price reporting, news and analysis business.

The environment is fast-paced but values careful thought. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. There are opportunities to travel and attend industry events, as well as to present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

You do not need prior commodities or energy industry experience. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a real desire to produce quality journalism are the primary qualities we look for in a very diverse pool of candidates.

• 
  Monitor markets, corporate, legal and regulatory/policy activity to produce daily news and analysis stories
• Analyse data to create insights into crude movements
• Regular contact with pipeline operators, key market sources to build relationships and gather market intelligence
• Develop two-way relationships with contacts and share market intelligence
• Contribute copy to relevant publications and a real-time news service
• Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus in the industry

What we’re looking for in you

• A graduate with strong degree preferably in Economics, Journalism, Communications, Business or relevant field.
• Prior experience in the financial, energy, commodities or journalism sector is useful but not essential.
• Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills
• Proficiency working with Excel and interest in further developing data skills.
• Ability to work effectively with management and meet targets in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives

Travel (percentage of travel)

• Cover conferences and events (5-10% of overseas travel is expected).

Hours
Monday through Friday, 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
