Research Assistant in the Centre for Biomedical Informatics (Assistant Professor Wilson Goh)
We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant who will join the Centre for Biomedical Informatics at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a joint medical school between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
The Centre for Biomedical Informatics is part of the cross-cutting research theme within the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) and aims to provide cutting-edge data analytics to the rest of the research themes within LKCMedicine as well as the school\'s clinical partners and the broader research ecosystem.

Your primary role is to work on a research study involving Open Science. Open Science promotes transparency and reproducibility in research. It can be divided into six areas: open access (publication), data sharing, reproducibility, open evaluation, open policies, and open tools. You will work on a research project that focus on supporting the domains of open tools and reproducibility. You will assist in developing workshops in Github and Jupyter Notebook (open code). The workshops will help to train researchers how to use these tools. Longitudinal analyses involving interviews and data tracing, will be conducted to identify roadblocks and assay tool usefulness. You will also conduct surveys to collect data about the researchers\xe2\x80\x99 attitudes towards open science and their perception of the benefits/risks of using Github and Jupyter. You will perform the mixed-methods analysis and assist the team in manuscript and report preparation.
There will be plenty of opportunities to work cross-functionally with different stakeholders of the school namely, scientists and administrators. You will acquire deep insights and knowledge about how best to reinforce the open science practices within the NTU research community.
Reporting to the co-director of the Centre for Biomedical Informatics, Assistant Professor Wilson Goh, responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
To conduct research activities such as participant recruitment, collect data from the research subjects and conduct survey/interviews
To perform both qualitative and quantitative research data analysis to assay open code tool usefulness and roadblocks
To perform administrative duties
To develop and implement activities to promote open science culture within the school.
In addition, the selected candidate will undertake ad-hoc tasks where required
Skills /qualifications/ qualities:
BSc in informatics, bioinformatics or any relevant quantitative disciplines
Familiarity with GitHub and Jupyter will be required
Good command of English and interpersonal skills (i.e. comfortable working in a cosmopolitan environment).
Highly driven and resourceful
Good project management skills
Able to work independently as well as within a team.
