The Department of Pathology, National University of Singapore invites applications for the below position: Research Assistant Our laboratory is involved in disease-based research on haematolymphoid malignancies particularly lymphoma The Department of Pathology, National University of Singapore invites applications for the below position: Research Assistant Our laboratory is involved in disease-based research on haematolymphoid malignancies particularly lymphoma. In this tumour, we are mainly interested in 2 areas: Genomics and pre-clinical testing of novel therapeutic agents and biomarkers. We use global genomics as a tool to understand disease biology, clinical prognosis, biomarkers and therapeutic targets identification. Responsibilities The candidate for the current position will mainly work on the following projects: Paraffin tissue sectioning and staining Optimizing and performing immunohistochemistry (IHC) for novel biomarkers for validation of genomics data, including double IHC/In situ hybridization staining. Reading H&E histology slide and scoring of IHC protein expression in tissue sections. Construction of tissue microarrays Performing fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on paraffin tissue sections Perform experiments involving cell culture, molecular biology, Western immunoblotting, DNA/RNA/methylome profiling, mice work Review scientific papers / literature in order to plan and optimise experiment designs Analyse and consolidate experiment data and reports Perform administrative work related to research Qualifications Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, bioengineering or equivalent from a well-recognised university Experience in performing and evaluating immunohistochemistry Previous work experience in a clinical histopathology laboratory or paraffin tissue based related research work preferred Experience in molecular and cell biology, and/or bioinformatics preferred Excellent written and oral communication skills Self-motivated individual who is able to work independently, prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a research environment of diverse workforce Monthly expected salary is S$3500 to S$4000 and is commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience of the candidates.
