Neste is the number one producer of renewable diesel from waste and residues and aims to maintain this global leadership by further growing the raw material pool and production platforms. To support these ambitious targets we set up an Innovation Centre in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The new APAC Innovation Centre is located in Science Park II in the west part of Singapore. Once operational, the centre will focus on analytical and feedstock research as well as partnerships and opportunities for new innovations in the APAC area. Approximately 40 researchers and other professionals will be hired gradually from 2022 to 2025 to the Innovation centre, which will be fully operational from 2023 onwards.

We are looking for a Research Assistant, with competences in Inorganic Analytics to join our Analytics team in Neste Asia Pacific (APAC) Innovation Centre Singapore.

We are now seeking a highly motivated and capable person to join the Analytics team and drive the establishment of the Neste APAC Innovation Centre in Singapore. An essential part of the Analytics team's work is to provide special analytics, to develop and apply new analytical methods and participate in troubleshooting.

The position requires a 1-3 weeks induction period in Finland.

Your part in Neste journey

In this role, your main responsibilities include

• impact on introducing analytical laboratory to the APAC Innovation Centre
• analysing samples of research projects using several techniques, e.g. ICP-MS/MS, coulometer, IC, N/S
• evaluating and reporting results, drawing conclusions
• participating in the method development
• responsibilities related to the laboratory instruments and laboratory facilities, maintenance and development with other laboratory personnel

You will work closely with researchers and other research assistants in Singapore and Finland as well as internal stakeholders (refineries, supply chain, projects) and relevant external stakeholders, such as equipment suppliers. You will report to the R&D Manager, Analytics of APAC Innovation Centre.

Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is

• Diploma in the chemistry or laboratory field (bachelor degree), graduate from Institute of technical education, polytechnic graduate from Chemical Process Technology or other relevant
• Experience in various sample preparation techniques
• Experience in several analytical techniques, e.g. ICP-MS, coulometer, IC, N/S
• At least 2-5 years working experience in the laboratory
• Safety oriented mind-set
• Attitude of a team player
• Ability to act independently
• Proactive and precise way of working
• Good communication skills, fluent English
• Organising skills and ability to manage several tasks at the same time

We also value

• Experience in analytical method validation
• Experience in instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
• Experience in digital tools
• Knowledge/licence in working with flammable materials/hazardous chemicals
