RESEARCH ASSISTANT / RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (INSTRUMENTATION) The Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI) invites applicants for the above posts.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES \xef\x82\xb7 Regular field trips onboard research vessels that may extend outside conventional office hours \xef\x82\xb7 Co-ordination of field trips, logistics and pre-field preparation \xef\x82\xb7 Operating of equipment for field work on research vessels \xef\x82\xb7 General maintenance of laboratories and equipment, duties including equipment troubleshooting with R & D engineers and vendors as well as performing scheduled preventive maintenance, equipment set-up and calibration \xef\x82\xb7 Developing and managing standard operating protocols, risk assessments, equipment maintenance documentations \xef\x82\xb7 Post-processing of data collected \xef\x82\xb7 Data entry, statistical analysis, interpretation and report writing \xef\x82\xb7 Purchasing of consumables and equipment \xef\x82\xb7 General administrative duties

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS \xef\x82\xb7 Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent \xef\x82\xb7 Meticulous \xef\x82\xb7 Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills \xef\x82\xb7 Resourcefulness, independence and ability to learn fast \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to work outside conventional working hours, when required \xef\x82\xb7 Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. Word and Excel) \xef\x82\xb7 Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be for a period of one year and extendable depending upon the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s performance.
