The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant.
The work will be primarily performed at the Clinical Sciences Building in the Novena campus of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. The lab focuses on dissecting mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders and their complications, with an overarching goal of unveiling novel therapeutic targets and/or diagnostic biomarkers for metabolic disease/conditions. We are particularly interested in delineating pathways that mediate enhanced formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in diabetes, and evaluating the impact of NETs on body systems under metabolic disturbances. We employ a variety of in vitro assays, cell-based approaches, and in vivo murine disease models, in combination with human sample and patient data analysis to address our fundamental research questions. The School and our laboratory strongly support career development activities to help individuals advance in professionalism and achieve their career goals. Individuals with strong enthusiasm in metabolic diseases, inflammation and vascular biology are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Holding and assisting in research projects
Hold independent projects with guidance from the PI/co-PI.
Actively participate in work-related research events (i.e., lab meetings/journal clubs through critical analyses of primary literature and primary data)
Assist other laboratory members in experiments as needed (including cell culture, mouse experiments, mouse specimen collection and fixation, tissue sectioning, histology, Western blotting, microscopy, etc.)
Mouse colony management
Managing mouse breeding to achieve optimal number of animals for experiments
Timely and accurate genotyping to maintain the colony in a cost-effective manner
