The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 17-month contract at the
Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning.

Project Title: Sport Coaching for Individuals with Disabilities: Exploration of a Constraint-Led Approach in Para-Table Tennis [RG119/22]

Project Introduction: Sport participation is vital for maintaining good health and promoting psychological well-being for individuals with disabilities. Given the complexity and diverse nature of disabilities, it is extremely challenging for sport instructors to coach para-players effectively. This project aims to design, develop and implement various training programmes that tailor the needs of para-sport players.

Requirements

• A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in sport science or related scientific discipline
• Coaching qualification and coaching experience in para-table tennis
• Good knowledge in human anatomy, disabilities and table tennis
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in conducting sport-related research on human participants
• Good track record in research publications related to sport
• Excellent organization and project management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Assist with ethics application and liaison with external parties
• Design scientifically-informed training programmes for para-table tennis
• Recruit participants, schedule and conduct data collection
• Deliver face-to-face table tennis intervention in off-campus venues
• Collect and analyse training and performance data to monitor progress
• Manage research data and handle administrative tasks associated with the project
• Assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts and presentations
• Support general maintenance and activities of NIE Sports Biomechanics Laboratory and the Physical Education and Sports Science Academic Group
• Other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
