The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.
Position Available: Research Fellow, Plasma physics for Fusion Energy
The project aims to assess effects of plasma shaping on global confinement under various plasma turbulence regimes. The Research Assistant will be employed and based at NTU, and is expected to collaborate with scientific teams at CEA, France.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate how plasma shaping influences turbulence in tokamaks, with the goal of understanding and optimizing its role in enhancing fusion performance
Study particle transport under various turbulence regimes and evaluate their impact on overall plasma confinement
Analyze how modifications in tokamak geometry affect plasma confinement and alter the characteristics of turbulence
Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree in physics
Familiar with computer sciences, HPCs, handling large amounts of data, and data analysis
Background in theoretical physics, with basic knowledge of plasma physics
Capability to work effectively in an international environment
