The job function includes laboratory operations and scientific support. The successful applicant will join and contribute to a fast-paced team with a cutting-edge technology platform and ample opportunity to grow with the company. This will be a permanent full-time role for the right candidate. Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to): o Perform mammalian cell culture and maintenance in a BSL-2 environment o Perform bacterial cell culture and maintenance o Perform molecular biology techniques like running Agarose gels, PAGE gels, Western Blots, PCR, cloning o Assist scientists in variety of molecular biology and biochemical experiments with accuracy and independence o Assist the team in vector production o Provide additional support to Laboratory Technicians o Operational reporting to the entire R&D team o Maintain electronic lab notebook Qualifications: College Degree in the life sciences or biotechnology, Masters degree will be an asset Technical skills: o More than 2 years of relevant experience working in a Life Science laboratory o Excellent oral and written communication skills are required o Experience in cell culture is a must o Knowledge of cloning, DNA, RNA and protein extractions is needed o Knowledge in RT-PCR, FACS is an asset o Knowledge of MS Office applications o Ability to work independently in a clean and organised manner is a must o Strong interest in genetic engineering is desired o Initiative, independent and with good team spirit to work in a workplace with diverse culture What we are looking for: \xc2\xb7 Ability to respectfully and productively interact with all levels of staff and integrate with the fast growing team of Avecris \xc2\xb7 Ability to collaborate with partners in academic institutions and CROs \xc2\xb7 Multi-tasking and organization skills with the willingness to be trained \xc2\xb7 Ability to work with little supervision in a fast-paced, high-performance but friendly start-up environment \xc2\xb7 Positive, can-do attitude.
