Research Assistant - Sovereign & International Public Finance The Role: As a Research Assistant, you will support senior analysts in monitoring the credit quality of sovereigns, regional and local g Research Assistant - Sovereign & International Public Finance The Role: As a Research Assistant, you will support senior analysts in monitoring the credit quality of sovereigns, regional and local governments, and public sector entities. You will be responsible for research, aggregating news & data, developing spreadsheet statistics and databases, preparing presentations & reports, and assisting with portfolio reviews and commentaries. The role also requires you to act as a process role model, setting measurable targets, setting priorities, problem solving and helping to improve and enhance rating's process and procedures. You will be expected to provide analytical reasoning to senior team members, and to act proactively toward resolution of issues, to investigate root causes for problems, and accumulate knowledge of criteria. You will develop and maintain a deep understanding of the industry trends and issues. English language skills must be excellent to communicate properly and precisely within the organization and assist with publishing research. Mandarin language skills are preferred. The Location: Singapore Responsibilities: Collect and analyze economic and financial information specific to a country, market or organization Conduct market sector or statistical analysis and interpret key market data elements into relevant information Leverages broad scope of knowledge when performing analysis on data sets Performs high level analytic or modeling Focuses on theory and concepts, applying quantitative or analytical skills to complete projects/studies/tasks Works closely with senior analysts to update presentation and analytical information Conducts research including identifying data, data input, and statistical analysis of results and creates and maintains data and analysis reports Requirements: BS/BA or similar degree with quantitative experience and/or studies in finance, government/public policy, economics, or similar fields Graduate to one year work experience in public sector financing, credit analysis, sovereign risk or a related field Pursuing CFA designation or Masters in Economics/Public policy/Finance or similar fields will be ideal Proficiency in Excel/Access, and ability to manipulate extremely large data sets. Strong computer skills, including Word and PowerPoint ability to use MS Access a plus Familiarity with third-party data providers (Bloomberg, CEIC, Wind), economic statistics, and econometrics Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment Ability to be highly organized, detail-oriented and to multitask A demonstrated interest in the government sector and how they work Strong ability to work with financial models and data, including cash flow and credit models Proactive, strong ability to communication effectively both internal and external.
