The Czarny Group is part of the School of Materials Science and Engineering in NTU Singapore. The Group is focusing on the development of nanomedicines with large emphasis on exosomes mimetic and in vivo pre-clinical studies. His research is highly translational and is broadly applicable to many pathological conditions. The Group is collaborating with SLim Group at the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a significant contributor to mortality. Atherosclerosis, characterized by the buildup of plaques containing fats, cholesterol, and other substances on arterial walls, is a major factor in CVDs. Detecting plaques early can aid in planning effective treatments to halt their progression. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is commonly used for visualization but lacks an efficient contrast agent to distinguish plaque stages. This project proposes using engineered protein nanoparticles (PNPs) to enhance plaque contrast and staging. TThree specific phase will be designed: engineering PNPs for plaque targeting, evaluating contrast enhancement and tracking plaque progression in vivo. Results are expected to advance understanding of PNP-cell interactions within plaques, aiding future contrast agent development for atherosclerosis staging.Key Responsibilities:Setting up protocols for animal study of the biodistribution of protein cage in mouse model;Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project;Presenting results in various meetings/forums;Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency;Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise;Advising final year project and/or interns in the project.Job Requirements:Master\xe2\x80\x99s in Biology, bioengineering, materials science or related fieldsWorking knowledge in animal handling, especially atherosclerotic modelWorking knowledge in protein production using E. coli and purification using AKTA FPLCFamiliarity in protein cage handlingHighly preferred skills: familiarity with atherosclerosisAble to design and execute experiments with minimal instructionsGood communication skills in both verbal and written formsTake initiatives and lead a project and ensure delivery of outcomes in a timely mannerTeam player who will take part in general lab activitiesCandidates with experience in any of these fields, nanoparticles formulation and characterization, nanomedicine, in vivo experiment, are strongly encouraged to apply.We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTU
