Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.Purpose of the postThis interdisciplinary project adopts a systems approach to investigating the interplay of ageism, built environment, and well-being across cultures. The Research Associate (RA) will be responsible for and work closely with the Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Emi Kiyota (Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and College of Design and Engineering), collaborator Associate Professor Jia Lile (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the project. The RA's principal role will be to lead the project's thrust in psychology, attitudes, and ageism.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Research Associate will lead research in understanding people's perceptions of and attitudes toward architectural structures and environments of elderly care institutions. The RA will be able to:(1) Design and conduct psychological experiments to understand the underlying mechanism related to ageism, mental well-being, and built environment;(2) Identify relevant 'big' data sets to analyze population-level ageism;(3) Perform advanced statistical analyses (e.g., multi-level analyses, network analyses, and machine learning);(4) Oversee the general management of the project;(5) Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites;(6) Conduct literature searches, maintain database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;(7) Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;(8) Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.Qualifications(a) Have a first degree with good results, hold a Master's degree, or are in an advanced stage of their PhD degree (e.g., qualified for PhD candidature) in psychology, sociology, or behavioral economics;(b) be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, and pay attention to detail;(c) are proficient in using statistical software, e.g., R, SPSS, to conduct advanced analyses(d) have extensive experience in designing and conducting surveys and experiments;(e) I have good experience analyzing large cross-national datasets.Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
