Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:
Research Associate for Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a full-time, experienced research associate to join the SPH-Lao Programme. The post is based in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Job scope:
  • To undertake high-quality research, including contributing to drafting major grant proposals and/or leading in drafting small grant proposals;
  • To contribute to peer-reviewed publications and other outputs, including as lead author;
  • To contribute to master student supervision, as appropriate to qualifications and experience;
  • To develop data collection tools and process evaluation protocols;
  • To support ethics applications;
  • To undertake high-quality data collection and analysis of qualitative research;
  • To train partners and students in qualitative data collection, coding and analysis;
  • To undertake activities that support SSHSPH and partners in Lao institutions;
  • To demonstrate good external citizenship by contributing to learned society/conference events, journal and grant reviews etc.;
  • To undertake and complete the mandatory training required by SSHSPH appropriate to the role.

Requirements:
  • A Master's degree, ideally in public health, social science, epidemiology, or a similarly relevant field.
  • Relevant experience in conducting qualitative interviews and focus group discussions, together with coding and analysis of the data.

The following knowledge and experience would be advantageous:
  • Experience in publishing public health research.
  • Ability to work (read, write, speak, understand) in both English and Lao.
  • Some experience contributing to research grant applications and/or teaching and assessment.
  • Some experience supervising and supporting junior researchers and/or postgraduate students and non-academic staff.
