Overview

We are looking for a Research Associate to strengthen our Research and Development team at the Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health Asia campus in Singapore. The candidate will be responsible for discovering, researching and developing new molecules, formula and processes that will benefit animal health in the feed and/or livestock sector. This role will provide good opportunities to gain expertise in conducting fundamental research, driving research projects forward, both individually and as an active member of a project team from idea inception, product development to launch and commercialization. The Research Associate will be working together with our local and global counterparts as well as external research partners to design new products and co-innovate new solutions in an exciting commercial international setting. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills, with a deep passion for translation science and curiosity to solve problems. Being innovative and self-driven would be key strengths we are looking for.

Responsibilities

• Research and development work on new molecules, ingredients, formulations and processes that can be applied to animal feed.
• Plan, design and execute experiments in the lab, including data acquisition, data interpretation and reporting of results for internal white paper writing and peer reviewed journal publications.
• Keep track of the relevant scientific literatures and contribute new ideas for new product development.
• Work closely together in cross-functional teams (marketing-product manager, sales team, customer services lab, regulatory affairs and operations), as well as with global counterparts.
• Support general laboratory operational activities.
• Assist the Innovation Lead/Research Manager to successfully complete all research projects as assigned.
• Coordinate with the Operations and QC/QA departments for process scale-up activities.
• Develop new products, processes and analytical methodologies and validate the data and research findings.
• Conducting experiments by adhering to safety guidelines at all times is a must.
• Maintain all documentation as per company\xe2\x80\x99s SOP and ISO requirements.
• Complete other tasks and responsibilities as and when assigned by the Innovation Lead/Research Manager/R&D Director.

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or Food Science Technology.

• Preferable with 3-5 years of relevant experience (commercial/academic research) in a wet biochemistry/ or life sciences laboratory.
• Good foundation in biochemistry and knowledge of cell culture work, animal studies, enzyme research, formulation sciences and/or process technologies. Some background and experience in animal nutrition and health (poultry, swine, ruminant) will be an added advantage.
• Experience in the using analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatography/GC, High Performance Liquid Chromatography/HPLC, UV spectrophotometer, FT-IR and NMR would be essential.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience in product development would be good to have.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to find creative solutions.
• Strong tenacity and resilience, to complete research projects from start to finish.
• Meticulous and demonstrate thoroughness in research, data collection and data analysis.
• Able to generate reports and presentations to communicate scientific findings clearly and concisely.
• Independent and team player, with enthusiasm to add value to customers.
• Good interpersonal skills with high proficiency and clarity in oral and written communications.
• Solid documentation and organizational skills.
• Understands priorities as well as complete assignments in a timely manner.
