About the Role
The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health is seeking a motivated and capable Research Associate or Research Fellow (part-time) to support a multi-country, interdisciplinary research initiative in global health. This implementation science project focuses on designing and evaluating public health interventions that promote behaviour change, strengthen community resilience, and build local capacity around Water and Sanitation in low- and middle-income settings across Southeast Asia.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to field-based public health research and program evaluation, while collaborating with international partners and local institutions. The role also provides valuable exposure to broader global health initiatives within the school, with a focus on capacity-building, participatory approaches, and scalable solutions to improve health in resource-limited contexts.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the baseline community assessment and overall evaluation of the intervention, working closely with the PI and local research teams
Manage field-based data collection, including surveys, interviews, focus groups observational assessments
Design and validate survey instruments and context-appropriate evaluation indicators
Conduct quantitative data analysis of the longitudinal survey and monitoring data
Draft evaluation reports, policy briefs, and technical documentation
Create data visualizations to communicate results to stakeholders
Work collaboratively with economic evaluation experts and qualitative researchers to integrate quantitative findings into a broader mixed-methods evaluation framework
Support capacity-building efforts for local field teams and partners in evaluation design and data collection
Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Public health, Epidemiology, Data Science/Analytics, Psychology, or other related disciplines
Minimum 3 years of research experience, preferably in program evaluation, public health or applied social science
Proficiency in at least one statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, Python)
Expertise in quantitative analysis, with preferred skills in
o Quasi-experimental evaluation techniques (e.g., Difference-in-difference, PSM)
o Social Network Analysis/ Structural Equation Modelling (SEM)/Multilevel Modelling (MLM)
Willingness to conduct fieldwork in rural or low-resource settings (required travel for up to 1 week 2-3 times a year) - familiarity with Laos or Southeast Asia is a plus
Strong project management skills and comfortable with engaging multiple-stakeholders and community partners
Exposure to qualitative or mixed-methods research is an advantage
