ABOUT THE ROLE

The Computational Biology and Bioinformatics team at Hummingbird Bioscience is expanding to meet the challenges in precision oncology. Our team delivers data-driven, actionable insights through the application of computational approaches to guide strategic decisions in clinical development that are already having a profound impact in the lives of patients.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Research Associate / Scientist in computational biology with a strong background in data science, to turn data into insights and contribute to the development of the next generation of cancer therapies.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in guiding strategic decisions in our drug development workflow by applying their extensive data science experience and expertise, and his/her analyses will have a strong and immediate influence on the company\'s decision-making process.

This is a full-time role based in Singapore.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mine public databases, publications and other public resources to deliver actionable insights that impact the development of the next generation of cancer treatment
• Independently identify the appropriate dataset to address a scientific question
• Research and implement novel analytical approaches to support drug discovery research
• Perform analysis of multi-modal pre-clinical and clinical data to identify biomarkers for our programs
• Perform other data mining tasks as needed
• Deliver effective messages from complex data in the form of presentations
• Establish collaborations across different departments within our organization, acting as a liaison to ensure clear communication and goal alignment
• Provide support, mentorship and training to junior staff

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• A PhD (Research Scientist); or a Bachelor/Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree (Research Associate); with equivalent work experience
• Demonstrated expertise in Python and/or R for data analysis
• Good understanding of cancer biology and immunology
• Familiarity with omics and high-throughput assay databases
• Strong communication skills, with a focus on creating and delivering presentations
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience
• Demonstrated experience leading data science and computational biology projects
• Experience analyzing and integrating multi-modal datasets from diverse resources
• Able to identify public datasets to answer specific scientific inquiries
• Familiarity with Unix operating systems and HPC clusters
• Familiarity with database management and design
• The ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects, and to adapt to changing priorities with tight deadlines
