Seagate Research Group develop technologies, creates proof-of-concept (PoC) and explores feasibility in devices/concepts that will be used for our next generation product and/or services.
Currently we are seeking a senior engineer to research on exciting emerging technologies. This position offers a variety of opportunities to prototype, experiment and benchmark innovative ideas and concepts in projects.
About the role - you will:
The senior engineer will be involved in exciting projects involving research, designing experiments to proof-of-concepts that could lead to productization. The successful candidate will also work along both local and global teams of Seagate researchers in project activities as well as liaise with external parties and vendors. You will research, acquire, evaluate, and handle materials and systems/equipment, as well as analyzing, documenting and presenting the results for internal as well external reports and presentations.
The senior engineer is expected to perform tasks independently, apply his/her knowledge and think out-of-the-box, and to contribute innovative ideas and IPs. The candidate is expected to be abreast of the latest developments in the domains of the projects.

Your experience includes:
Engaged in tasks, experiments and projects independently
Analog electronics, electrical, mechanical design and analysis
CAD (Computer Aided Design) for PCB layout and mechanical components
Modelling, simulations and prototyping
Research, evaluate and liaise with vendors on new materials and equipment for projects needs
Knowledge and understanding of lab safe practices for effective project execution
Apply basic scientific principles to solve technical problems
Present/share knowledge and work products
You might also have:
Knowledge of fabrication techniques for the materials
Knowledge of Data Science
Major in either Mechatronics, Engineering, Science or other related fields

The Shugart site (named after Seagate's founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center.
