Job Description


The Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA), at the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow.The main theme of fellowship is on "The New Political Economy and Public Governance in a Globalizing Asia", with a focus on China and/or Southeast Asia (Singapore in particular), including ASEAN integration in the contexts of changing geopolitics and the new international political economy, such as the RCEP.Key Responsibilities:Work closely with Director (Research & Executive Education), NCPA (Professor Liu Hong), who will serve as the primary mentor, and other research staff at NCPA as well as the School of Social Sciences.Conduct independent research, develop research proposals, collaborate on projects, and contribute to academic publications.Coordinate NCPA\'s research activities within NTU (including the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship Programme) and with external partners.Job RequirementsPhD in one of the relevant fields of Asian Studies, international political economy, political science, public policy, or other fields such as sociology, ethnic studies, and global history.Interdisciplinary and comparative approach to Asian governance in the context of globalization and new geopolitics is particularly welcome.For those working on China and ASEAN context, bilingual capacities (English and Chinese or English and a Southeast Asian language) is essential to facilitate the research process.Demonstrated records in publication and research activities in the relevant research themes.Preferably with experiences in the Asian region and able to connect area studies with on-going discourses about the international political economy and public governance.The appointment will be for a period for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance review and budget availability.Applicants must state in their applications the research area(s) they are applying for.
