A Research Fellow position is currently available in the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS).The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.As part of this programme, Cluster 1 PI Jingyu Wang, will develop the high-resolution modelling framework. An experienced atmospheric scientist and climatologist to contribute to the development and application of high-resolution models, incorporating both physical-based and machine learning methods for urban climate studies.Key Responsibilities:Develop, test and implement high-resolution models (e.g., MPAS, CESM-VR, E3SM-RRM, or WRF) for Southeast Asia climate studies.Incorporate both physical-based and machine learning methods into the models.Analyze model output, perform statistical analysis and provide interpretation and recommendations.Collaborate with cross-functional government agencies and research teams to collect and analyze atmospheric and climatological data.Job Requirements:Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Climatology, Remote Sensing, Computer Science or a related field.Proven experience in high-resolution model development, implementation and application.Strong experience with physical-based and machine learning methods in atmospheric science.Proficiency in Linux-based high-performance computing systems, GPU-based programming and prevailing AI tools.Experience in urban climate studies, specifically the urban boundary layer, heat island effects, air pollution, and building energy consumption.Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, IDL or MATLAB.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.EOS seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity.
