Job Description

SIFBI is seeking an experienced postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Food Carbohydrate Programme led by Dr. Amy Lin, focusing on food carbohydrates at the Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI).

Research focuses:

• Fiber modification with sustainable processing techniques for enhancing or creating functionalities and nutritional benefits.

Job Responsibilities:
Conduct research within our research-focused areas, involving but not limited to research activities in carbohydrate modification, molecular structural characterization, technical functionality, and colonic fermentability in the in vitro models.
Collaborate with the team members in developing cutting-edge research in the interface of carbohydrates (including both glycemic and indigestible carbohydrates) and human health toward translation into appliable techniques or products to benefit the industry & population in Singapore as well as positive impacts on global needs
Ensure target performances (i.e., high-quality scientific publications, patent applications) are met promptly and to the highest standard
Be a coach & a role model for junior staff embarking on studies in the interphase of carbohydrates and human health
Be an excellent team member with an open mind to share and collaborate on research and assist with the maintenance of smooth and safe operation in the working environment

Job Requirements

Qualification & Field of Study

• Ph.D. in Food Science or related fields.
• Excellent skills in carbohydrate chemistry, analytic chemistry, and processing.
• Additional training in human physiology, molecular biology, food rheology, instrumental analysis, and clinical study is desired.

Min. Years of Experience

Junior postdoctoral researchers with abundant experience and advanced knowledge of carbohydrates are welcome to apply for the position.

• A strong record in publishing articles in well-recognized journals
• A strong record in presenting at international professional conferences in the relevant research areas
• Excellent soft skills, such as people skills, stress management skills, team relationships, writing & verbal communication skills, etc.
• Meticulous and accountable for all tasks as assigned and take the initiative (be proactive) in conducting research and assist others when their needs are observed
• Being a good team player and prioritizing the team\xe2\x80\x99s goal above personal interest
• Being willing to share and discuss research within the team; recognizing and drawing out each other\xe2\x80\x99s strengths to achieve shared goals
• Ability to adjust focus and behaviors in response to changing priorities, demands, and research directions
• Assist the program with daily operational and admin needs, such as procurement, chemical waste management, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, etc.
• Practice the highest standards of research integrity and ethics
• Respect diversity and be able to collaborate with others in a highly diverse environment
• Experience in using literature management software (i.e., EndNote), statistical and data analysis (e.g., R program), and other research-relevant tools
