About the job
The Research Fellow will be a core member of the research team. Research tasks include working on the Center for Water Policy\'s cutting-edge work on urban water policy and governance, as well as our burgeoning Center on Climate and Energy. The candidate will lead policy-relevant research projects, take responsibility for project and grant management, and contribute to stakeholder liaison and outreach of the Institute. We are especially looking for candidates who hold a high level of policy research competence in Applied Economics, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Environmental Science or in a related field. In particular, candidates should have demonstrable interest, work, and/or research experience on the policy and governance aspects of water, climate and energy. All candidates should have a strong willingness to contribute to IES\'s mission and to engage with new topics and research tools.

Job Responsibilites

Responsibilities

\xc2\xb7 Design, implement and lead research projects under IES\'s various research programmes

\xc2\xb7 Prepare high quality research papers on topics related to IES\'s core research themes suitable for publication in high-tier academic journals

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to grant and institute-level reporting requirements and funding proposals/applications

\xc2\xb7 Provide support for IES\'s events and outreach activities

Job Requirements

Requirements

\xc2\xb7 PhD in Applied Economics, Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Environmental Science or in a related field.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent analytical skills with knowledge of:

- big data analytics, economics, econometrics, laboratory/field experiments, game theory and/or agent-based modelling

- anticipatory policy design and practice, including path dependency analysis

\xc2\xb7 Applied social science experience, including independently designing, conducting surveys and analysing its data

\xc2\xb7 Preference for those with good and relevant publication records / working papers

\xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written English

\xc2\xb7 Good time management skills and ability to multi-task effectively

\xc2\xb7 Able to commit till 31 March 2023 (renewable for 1 year on good performance)
