Accept ClosePress Tab to Move to Skip to Content LinkSearch JobsJob Title: Research Fellow (OR/EID/AB)Posting Start Date: 09/09/2024:The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within EID is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. The laboratory is also at the forefront in developing T-cell receptor (TCR) cell therapy against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recently, the laboratory is actively involved in studying the immune responses in SARS-CoV1, SARS-CoV2 and other emerging viral diseases.We are looking for a talented Research Fellow to study the antigen-specific cellular immune response to emerging viral diseases using classical and newly developed cellular assays. The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities, which include planning, organising and conducting research studies within the overall scope of research projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following:

  • Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
  • Develop and test novel T cell assays against various viral pathogens of interest.
  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to study immune responses against various pathogens.
  • Actively engage with clinical and industry counterparts, as well as team members to achieve the goals of the project.
  • Write research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.
  • Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities.
  • Contribute to occasional educational / instructional activities and project management.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
  • PhD in Immunology, or other related biomedical fields with immunology/infectious diseases background.
  • Have good technical knowledge of immunology assays.
  • Prior experience in handling and management of BSL-2 viral pathogens/clinical samples.
  • Able to adapt to work with different pathogens/clinical samples of interest.
  • Demonstrate excellent quantitative, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Possess interpersonal communications skills with excellent written and oral communications.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, independent, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
