The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.
Recently, Prof Wang has been awarded a 6-year funded European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grant project, called 'BATPROTECT', that will use bats as natural models of healthy aging and disease tolerance to elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind bat's exceptional longevity and resistance to viral and age-related diseases. The candidate will work closely with other members of the Wang lab and the BATPROTECT team.
The candidate is expected to perform a variety of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his designate. The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
  • Assist researchers in programming, data analysis and literature review in various research projects.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication.
  • Contribute to project management, presentations and publications of research work, including occasional laboratory demonstrations where applicable.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
  • PhD in Life Sciences, Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or other related fields.
  • Prior working experience in the areas of immunology or aging is preferred but candidates with good academic and research track records will also be considered.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, with proficiency in written and verbal communication as well as computer literacy.
  • A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
