Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to advance power converter hardware design using wide bandgap devices for next-generation power electronic systems. The role emphasizes design, prototyping, testing, and experimental validation to support high-efficiency, reliable, and standards-compliant power electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities:Design and prototype power converters using WBG devices. Conduct simulation and experimental validation on lab and real-time testbeds. Optimize hardware for efficiency, thermal performance, and reliability. Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes and safety standards. Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students. Contribute to research publications and grant proposals.

Job Requirements:PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with specialization in power electronics or converter hardware design. Strong experience with WBG devices (SiC, GaN) and high-efficiency power converter hardware. Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or Altium Designer. Good understanding of grid codes, standards, and system integration of active and passive components. Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
