Job Description

Gaia Foods is seeking a passionate, independent and innovative Research Scientist, specializing in Biomaterial sciences, polymer design, development and testing for the 3D culture of red meat production. This position involves Biomaterial design, development, and testing of the natural polymer-based biomaterial.

Educational Background:

• PhD in Biomaterial sciences/ Polymer chemistry/ Biological Sciences / Stem Cell Biology.
  

Preferred Experience:

• PhD holder in Biomaterial sciences, Life-science or Biological Sciences or related field.

• Experience in design, development and testing of different natural or synthetic polymer for usage in food or regenerative medicine.

• Basic cell and molecular biology experience is a must.

• General lab handling techniques and procedures are essential.
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and handle natural or synthetic polymers.

• Identify novel biopolymers from natural sources and test different physical and chemical properties of the same for use in cell culture techniques.

• Planning, Designing and executing mammalian cell culture to test the ability of the biopolymer to support the growth of the cells.

• Bookkeeping and documentation of all the work in precise detail.

• Protocol development for the design of novel biopolymers.

• Identification and optimization of tools to characterize polymers.

• Maintain mammalian cells in a culture medium including routine media exchange, harvest, and sampling

• Engage with other team members to establish internal and external quality control tests and partners to align with regulations requirements

• Arrange regular meetings with team members to communicate results and data in a timely and effective manner

• Train and help new joiners and junior staff or associates.

• Contribute to regulatory submissions and inspections as appropriate as a subject matter expert representing the cell line development process.
