A

Deli Counter Assistant

is responsible for providing customer service at a deli counter within a supermarket. Your duties include tasks related to food preparation, customer interactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

Take orders and provide information about the various meats, products, and specials available.


Offer suggestions to customers based on their preferences and needs.


Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Meat Preparation and Presentation:

Slice, portion, and package meats.


Ensure the counter display is always clean, organized, and visually appealing.


Maintain proper food handling procedures to ensure product safety and quality.


Replenish stocks and prepare products as needed.

Stock Management:

Monitor inventory levels and ensure that the counter is adequately stocked.


Alert the supervisor or manager when supplies are running low or when products need to be reordered.


Keep track of product expiration dates / time and ensure that older products are rotated or removed.

Food Safety & Hygiene:

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the counter area, tools, and equipment.


Clean and sanitize cutting boards, knives, and other utensils regularly.


Adhere to health and safety standards for food handling and preparation.

Teamwork and Communication:

Work closely with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the counter.


Assist with any additional tasks as needed, such as restocking shelves or helping with promotional displays.

Skills and Qualifications:

Previous experience in a customer service or food handling environment is preferred, but not necessary as training will be provided. Good communication skills and the ability to interact with a variety of customers. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Non-halal environment * Permanent Part Time (4 Days per week)
