Serve as a top-tier technical expert for the corporate POS environment, including configuration, user management, software deployment, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues.
Project Implementation:
Lead and participate in projects to upgrade, patch, or implement new POS systems and integrated technologies (e.g., new payment terminals, NFC/contactless solutions, scan-data redemption systems).
Integration Management:
Oversee and maintain the critical integrations between the POS system and other platforms, including:
+ Fuel Controller Systems (e.g., Wayne, Dover Fueling Solutions)
+ Payment Processors & Acquiring Banks (PCI compliance understanding is preferred)
+ Loyalty and Gift Card Platforms
+ Back-Office Inventory and Reporting Suites
+ Head Office Functions and reporting requirements
Vendor Management:
Work closely with POS software vendors, hardware suppliers, and payment processors to resolve issues, manage service tickets, and drive product enhancements that meet business needs.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure all POS and payment systems adhere to strict PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance requirements. Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive customer and transaction data.
Training & Documentation:
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration guides. Provide training and support to field technicians and store operations staff.
Performance Monitoring:
Proactively monitor system health, transaction volumes, and network connectivity to prevent outages and ensure optimal performance across the retail network.
Innovation:
Stay abreast of industry trends (e.g., mobile POS, cloud-based solutions, predictive analytics) and evaluate new technologies to enhance our retail offerings and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
+ 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting, administering, or implementing retail POS systems.
+
Direct experience with POS platforms common in the Fuel/C-Store industry (e.g., Gilbarco Passport, Verifone Commander) is highly preferred.
+ Strong understanding of payment processing technologies, PCI compliance, and security best practices.
+ Solid knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN) as it relates to connecting forecourt and in-store devices.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
Preferred:
+ Experience with integration protocols (REST/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON).
+ Familiarity with fuel controller systems and forecourt equipment.
+ Understanding of loyalty program mechanics and gift card systems.
+ Project management experience.
+ Relevant certifications (e.g., PCI Professional, vendor-specific POS certifications, CompTIA Network+).
