Job Description


Role Summary The RMS will support the Transition Rig Manager to ensure reactivation/warm-stack expenditures for parts/materials, services, and manpower are warranted and monitored on the job site. Provide technical and operational expertise to determine correct and adequate spares are sourced and purchased for reactivating units, assist in reactivation budget design, manage the technical & operational aspects, as well as the overall workflow of the rig reactivations across all disciplines/departments.

Responsibilities Plan, supervise and direct the activities of equipment vendor service/commissioning engineers, warm stack crews, 3rd Party Reactivation Teams, Resource/Preservation Teams and Operational Teams during rig moves, NOV Equipment Preservation Plans, ABS Delayed Delivery Maintenance Plans, Warm-Stack Operations, and Pre/Post Rig Reactivation Operations.

Ensure compliance with Company\xe2\x80\x99s QHSE & technical policies and standards with regards to services and equipment commissioned, installed, utilized on drilling units pre/post reactivation.

Carry out initiatives to ensure continual improvement in the systems and/or processes employed with reactivating drilling units within the Transition Team

Specific Tasks associated with the role.

  • Liaise closely with the Transition Rig Manager, Barge Engineer, Toolpusher, and the Resource/Preservation team leads to plan and conduct preservation activities, support warm stack rig operations, and perform rig reactivations efficiently and cost effectively
  • Review equipment spares requirements and lead times to determine operational requirements for current/future reactivating rigs.
  • Lead/Direct upgrades to the rigs, ensuring compliance with the Management of Change policy and overseeing suitable project management of the upgrades/modifications in accordance with Company\'s policies and procedures
  • Lead/Direct 3rd Party Technical and Operational Teams with equipment familiarization, commissioning & maintenance while in the shipyard.
  • Liaise, as directed, with relevant external parties on technical issues e.g. Class, Flag, shelf state regulators, clients, third party vendors, OEMs etc.
  • Assist the rig\xe2\x80\x99s operational team pre-departure from shipyard to ensure technical compliance with Class, Flag, shelf state and contractual requirements for each rig.
  • Assist in the recruitment and assessment of technical personnel onshore and offshore for resource/preservation/warm stack/reactivation teams

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
  • Minimum of 10 years of oilfield experience with 2 years in similar position.
  • Possess strong technical, personnel and administrative skills.
  • Ability to liaise with drilling rigs\xe2\x80\x99 technical teams and rig management teams.
  • Ability to lead teams and liaise effectively with external parties (OEM, vendors, client acceptance teams, client).
  • High levels of self-motivation with the ability to work under pressure and outside of normal working hours.
  • Able to travel offshore and abroad as necessary, often at short notice.
  • Good working knowledge of equipment and systems on drilling rigs.
  • Experience and knowledge of maintenance systems and technical documentation requirements.
  • Experience with Classification, Flag state and shelf state rules and requirements,
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and techniques to quickly identify root causes and potential solutions
  • Project management/rig upgrade/rig reactivation experience is desirable.
