About the role My client is a renowned international law firm with strong presence and commitment within the Asia market. Due to tightening of regulations in Asia, they are present recruiting for a Risk and Compliance Counsel to be based in their Singapore Office, overseeing all the compliance, and conflicts related matters in Asia. As part of the global business acceptance/client on-boarding team, you will be reporting to the General Counsel based in London and be appointed as the subject matter expert for all the risk and compliance matters arising from their daily operations across the various Asia offices. The team will provide support to the firm’s global network of lawyers, ensuring that the offices adhere to the relevant regulatory framework in the respective jurisdictions. You should ideally be well versed in the local professional conduct rules and regulatory obligations across Asia. You will also be advising on compliance with AML/CTF laws and regulations, anti-bribery and corruption laws, as well as ensuring that employees are kept abreast of the latest regulatory framework and guidelines.
  • Common Law Qualified solicitor with at least 3-4 PQE gained from local/international law firm
  • Prior experience in a risk and compliance function would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and working familiarity with regulatory obligations (of law firms) in Asia jurisdictions would be helpful
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and possesses strong stakeholder management skills
