Job Description

The Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting clients with fabric and design selection, managing orders, and supporting daily shop operations. This role combines retail sales skills with knowledge of tailoring services (to be learnt) to ensure customers receive a smooth, personalised experience.

Key Responsibilities1. Customer Service & Sales

Greet customers and understand their tailoring needs (alterations, custom tailoring, made-to-measure, etc.) Recommend suitable fabrics, styles, and design options based on customer preferences and body measurements. Explain tailoring services, pricing, and timelines clearly. Upsell complementary items such as accessories, shoes etc Maintain strong product knowledge of fabrics, styles, and trends.

2. Measurement & Fitting Support

Assist tailors in taking basic measurements. Coordinate fitting appointments and ensure smooth handover to the tailor. Document customer measurements and style selections accurately.

3. Order Management

Create and update customer orders in the system. Ensure all details (fabric, style, size, special instructions) are correctly recorded for the tailor. Follow up with customers on collection dates, adjustments, or delays. Handle customer concerns or alterations requests politely and professionally.

4. Store Operations

Maintain tidy, organised display of fabrics, samples, and accessories. Process payments, issue receipts, and handle basic cash register duties. Help with daily opening and closing procedures.

5. Team Collaboration

Coordinate closely with tailors to ensure orders are completed on time. Communicate customer preferences or special instructions clearly to the production team.

Requirements

Prior retail or customer service experience (fashion or tailoring background is a plus). Basic understanding of fabrics, fashion styles, or tailoring terminology (training can be provided). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with good record-keeping habits. Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
