Organizational context
WB APAC COO is responsible for the oversight of the operational delivery across 9 different ING Legal entities within APAC region, as such the domain leverages on the delivery of shared services via ING Hubs Manila and the operational execution of COO teams across the region as well as COO Centers of expertise located in Singapore.
We are seeking a highly motivated Scalable Operations, Digital adoption and Operational Management lead with an interest in Wholesale Banking operations that can act in a cross-functional manner and coordinate change and scalability initiatives within the COO APAC domain. The role has exposure to senior executives across APAC and other regions and will suit someone with strong aim to lead key journeys to accelerate on the Scalable Operations and digitalization.
ING WB APAC COO Strategy is to evolve towards one global digital bank for all business lines hence the Scalable Operations, Digital adoption and Operational Management lead is accountable for driving implementation and execution of digital initiatives in the Operations of WB COO as well as transforming the domain with the support of data analytics and performance dashboards for all business lines across WB and covering the 10 branches in APAC where ING is actively conducting business.
The ideal candidate will ensure that the global, regional and local digitalization agenda is followed and will support the overall digital transformation of the region supported by ING Hubs, Global teams and regional COO teams.
About the department:
COO is responsible for our day-to-day operations for Lending, FM, Transaction Services and premises as well as Financial Crime Prevention (FCP), Operational Design, Control & Resilience (ODCR) and Data Management (CDO). Through these departments, COO collaborates closely with various business units to ensure the efficient execution of business and to enhance system technologies, address business controls, and manage data effectively. Additionally, COO leads local Change & Transformation execution and coordination, together with Tech.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead the WB APAC COO Change, transformation and digitalization stream.
  • Drives and oversees various initiatives in the context of AI adoption, monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Drives the adoption of data driven decision making and timely and accurate reporting on scalable operations initiatives across 10 APAC branches.
  • Accountable of the implementation of data driven solutions and operational performance dashboard for all business lines for senior management.
  • Designs and implement plans for scalable solutions to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Keeps the WB COO APAC organization effectively updated on the main digitalization, automation and AI solutions in the market.
  • Assessed and produces business cases to support the adoption of technology and / or operational practices with the aim of fully digitizing the domain.
  • Align with global stakeholders to ensure that automation and scalability metrics within the region are contributing to the global objectives.
  • Is the linking point between the business owners and operations to support future growth plans in the most optimal and efficient way.
  • Collaborating with business and IT leads to ensuring the delivery of scalable operations initiatives across WB.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the executive team on the status of scalability and digital adoption.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in operational digitalization, standardization and scalability.
  • Experience with steering on output.
  • Ability to influence diverse senior stakeholders across the global WB COO organization.
  • Ability to lead transformation programs and projects on a large scale.
  • Excellent level of English.
  • 12 + years of experience as Change manager, Program Manager or Transformation lead.
  • You are a master of change leadership, capable of nudging, challenging, and inspiring leaders and teams at all levels to embrace new ways of working.
  • you've successfully driven complex, cross-functional technology adoption programs.
