Job Description

Training & Responsibilities:

• Receive training from NFS teachers on kitchen equipment, hygiene, and safety.
• Operate and maintain kitchen appliances (cookers, ovens, blenders, steamers, refrigerators, etc.).
• Understand kitchen terminology and tools (e.g., palette knives, patty tins).
• Assist in food preparation and portioning for classes.
• Ensure proper food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures.
• Maintain inventory of perishables, dry goods, and kitchen tools.

Daily Duties:

• Clean kitchens and classrooms (tables, sinks, floors, dustbins).
• Prepare equipment and food trays before lessons.
• Assist during practical lessons (replenish items, clean spills, help with appliances).
• Store food properly post-lessons; wash and fold laundry (towels/aprons).
• Track and report any breakages or missing items.
• Ensure equipment and utilities (gas, lights, AC) are turned off after use.

Weekly Duties:

• Deep-clean cookers, ovens, and sinks.
• Clean and sanitise refrigerators and storage areas.
• Replenish kitchen consumables (foil, detergents, wraps).
• Inform teachers of any damaged tools or low supplies.

Pre-Holiday Duties:

• Dispose of or store food properly.
• Deep-clean all appliances and work areas.
• Turn off all utilities.
• Wash all cutlery and clean cupboards/shelves.
• Assist with stock-taking and equipment records.

Start of Term Duties:

• Uncover and clean cookers and tables.
• Wipe down all work areas and storage shelves.

Contract Period: From 2 Jan 2026 to 13 Nov 2026.

• Maximum 6 hours a day (flexible start and end timing depending on the first and last class for the day)
• Service will not be required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, Self-Directed Learning (SDL) days, and school holidays (e.g., Youth Day, March, June, and September holidays). Personnel may be deployed on an ad-hoc basis only at times during the school holidays

Qualification:

• N or O levels
• Food Hygiene certification

Skills:

• Ability to read excel documents

Experience:

• Have previous working experience in school kitchens
