[What the role is]

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.
[What you will be working on]

  • Review and implement technology to streamline operational processes related to animal health and welfare, shelter management, including broadcasts, inventory management and procurement, and biosecurity.
  • Participating in automation solutions to streamline processes and improve efficiency in animal care and research operations.
  • Conduct and support research in areas such as animal welfare, shelter management, animal training.
  • Assist in data management, processing, and analysis to support research projects.
  • Collaborate with the scientific team to prepare and present findings through slide presentations.
  • Contribute to the writing of progress reports and manuscripts for publication.

[What are we looking for]

  • Degree in Behavioural Biology, Environmental Sciences, Life Science, or related fields, with 1-2 years hands-on experience in animal-based research preferred.
  • Highly motivated and independent individual with passion for both field and laboratory work.
  • Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently.
  • Good statistical knowledge (e.g. sound knowledge of generalized linear mixed-effect models) with familiarity in R and/or Python programming.
  • Good communication skills in both oral and written forms.
  • Competent in Microsoft office applications.
