Practice Area Profile

BCG TURN, a special unit within BCG, helps companies orchestrate an effective business turnaround when all signs point to the need for fast, focused action and when companies are grappling with an urgent need to change amid great disruption. We deliver immediate impact to each client’s bottom line, cash flow, and top-line growth—all while concentrating on what the client must do to sustain successful change far into the future.

What You'll Do

As an Expert Project Leader affiliated to the Turnaround and Restructuring topics, you will be working alongside some of the world’s top minds in the industry. You will work hand in hand with the decision makers of our client company, having a real seat at the table. Through your project you will accompany companies from a variety of sectors and industries through decisive changes in Asia Pacific. The majority of your time will be spent as part of the BCG turnaround team composed of members of different backgrounds collaborating intensively and building a long-term relation with our clients. You will also dedicate time to further develop and deepen BCG’s expertise in restructuring and turnaround, as well as supporting BCG Partners in business development initiatives. On a day to day basis this will translate into:

• Playing a role in the growth of our TURN practice with a focus on financial and operational restructuring topics through case execution, client development, and intellectual property & product creation
• Leading and executing, or providing expertise and support to restructuring and TURN projects in diversified industries with a focus on operational restructuring and short term performance improvement.
• Navigating and interpreting financial statements to build situation diagnosis action plan
• Identifying and valorising levers & advocate their implementation to companies’ decision makers
• Exploring liquidity improvements options and implementing the appropriate liquidity management tools
• Performing peer benchmarking to identify financial performance weaknesses and propose improvement programs
• Understanding current and prospective market environments and developing appropriate business strategies
• Developing medium-long term business plans and formulating sustainable capital structure
• Providing support on non-core asset disposals and refinancing or restructuring of debts
• Working jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the teams and to the clients on site
• Providing intellectual leadership to the project teams by generating key ideas and conceptual frameworks to guide research and analysis
• Acting as chief restructuring officer or chief transformation officer (or jointly with client appointee) to lead the implementation of the agreed programs and initiatives
• Handling administration relating to the project from staffing to budgeting
• Actively supporting our business development efforts: opportunities identification, proposal and pitch preparation, client presentations and meetings and attending relevant industry conferences

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

• 
  Over 10 years of work experience gained in both lateral and consulting environment with a focus on financial restructuring, operational improvements and turnaround topics
• A track record of leading large, complex restructuring with any involvement in turnaround projects an added advantage )
• Analytical and structured with excellent problem solving skills (hypothesis driven approach etc.)
• Excellent communication and persuasion skills to interact and manage C-level stakeholders
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites (subject to current Covid-19 regulations)

BCG TURN is able to take-on operational roles at the client and to provide interim management services through our external network when needed. It focuses on rigorous action and rapid execution to deliver immediate results.
