The School

This international school opened in 2020 and is a collaboration with a top co-educational school in the UK and its four sister schools around the world - all of which are leading schools in their respective regions and which collectively educate more than 4,000 students.

The school opened as a Pre-Prep (located in a purpose-built \'Early Learning Village\') for children aged 18 months to 6 years and a Prep School. In August 2024, the Senior School will open with Years 7, 8 and 9.

The school aims to provide an inspiring education that prepares pupils for life in school and beyond. The school delivers a curriculum that incorporates the UK\'s Early Years Foundation Stage and English National Curriculum, together with a rich co-curricular programme.

Mixing together a mass of different cultures, cuisines and architectural styles, Singapore is studded with vast showpiece constructions to complement its colonial-era hotels and buildings. Cutting-edge tourist developments continue to spring up. Shopping avenues and underground malls throb with life, as do the food courts, the riverside bars and the temple-dotted outlying neighbourhoods. Singapore is a very safe, clean, friendly place and ideal for a first time expat and being so close to other countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia means it\'s cheap and easy to travel overseas.

Requirements

The school is seeking an inspirational English Teacher to start in August 2024, as the school expands from a first-class Prep School to one of the region\'s leading all-through schools (from Pre-Nursery to Year 13).

This is an exciting opportunity for an educationalist to shape the development of a secondary curriculum that will provide the platform needed for pupils to go on to some of the world\'s leading universities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that the educational offering aligns with the schools commitment to building a world-class academic institution. They will be able to demonstrate the passion, expertise and ambition to take ownership of all aspects of the pupil experience of English teaching at secondary level.

The English Teacher will teach across all Key Stage 3 year groups, and will be expected to support the teaching and learning at IGCSE and beyond as the school expands upwards from August 2025. Therefore, they will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering top academic results at GCSE/IGCSE and A-level in previous roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the teaching, progress and attainment of all pupils in Years 7 to 9 from August 2024, and for all other senior year groups in the following years.
• Promote excellence, creativity and innovation in all areas of the English curriculum.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
• Demonstrate the experience and ability to teach English Language and Literature across all relevant Key Stages (including IGCSE/GCSE and A-level).
• Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, with the ability to lead by example.
• Devise and implement rigorous self-evaluation processes.
• Devise and oversee the department\'s extension and enrichment programme.
• Demonstrate the experience and expertise needed to support pupils in future years with applications to leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge and other world-class universities.
• Work closely with the Heads of EAL and AEN to develop pathways for pupils requiring additional support.
• Work with the Prep School middle and senior leaders to manage a smooth transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
• Develop the required curriculum and department documentation, both for current and prospective parents.
• Work with the Head of Admissions on the assessment of English levels at entry to the Senior School.
• Contribute to the highest standards of safeguarding and to the school\'s pastoral system, acting as a tutor for a Senior School year group.
• Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.
• Any other reasonable management request.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor\'s degree in English, with PGCE or equivalent.
• Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering GCSEs/IGCSEs and A-level.
• Proven track record of middle leadership (preferred but not essential).
• International experience (preferred but not essential)
• Superb writing and speaking abilities.
• Exemplifies the school values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
• An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.

Salary and Benefits

The school offers a competitive international remuneration package which includes housing allowance, tuition fee remission and private medical insurance. A full tuition fee remission is available for up to two dependent children, subject to a place being available and meeting entry requirements.
