Secondary Music Teacher

An outstanding and inspirational Music Teacher is required for January 2024.

We offer Music from Year 7 to Year 13, following an adapted Key Stage 3 English National Curriculum in Year 7-8, GCSE Edexcel Music in Years 9-11 and IB Music in Sixth Form. We are proud of exceptional outcomes achieved in our examination years. The successful candidate will be passionate about excellence in teaching and learning and committed to ongoing improvement for the best student outcomes.

They will be a reflective practitioner and collaborator, relentless in the pursuit of \'better\' practice. The department is a hive of activity with young musicians of all abilities. Students have access to a range of music technology including iPads , a MAC suite, and a recording studio. Music is taught to students across all three learning pathways so candidates with experience of teaching students with additional needs or an enthusiasm and willingness to develop this as part of their own pedagogical practise are particularly sought.

The Music faculty offers a wide range of co-curricular opportunities for students including orchestra, bands, choir, and other ensembles. Staff contribute to our pastoral care and well-being programme and to our co-curricular programme, making a full contribution to our vibrant community.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications/Training

  • Qualified degree level or above.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience in delivering Key Stage 3 English National Curriculum in Year 7-8, GCSE Edexcel Music in Years 9-11 and IB Music in Sixth Form
Experience
  • Proven track record with at least two years\' teaching experience in an International School.
  • Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school.
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly.
  • Experience of teaching students with additional needs.
  • Experience of the National Curriculum for England.
  • Working in partnership with parents.
Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Planning, Teaching and Learning

Tracking, Assessment, Recording, Reporting
  • Make effective use of assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students;

  • Report on progress to students, colleagues, and parents.
Student Care and Guidance

  • Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside of the UK.
