Job Description


The role of Commodity Risk Analyst is a key control position within the Commodity Risk and T&S Finance & Risk organization, in the Global Gas, Power & LNG Trading business. This role sits within the LNG business in Singapore and is accountable for key aspects of delivery and control. This role will be part of a broader team delivering the core accountabilities of independent daily exposures, risks, working capital, P&L analysis, value-added reporting, and ad-hoc analytics while enforcing the T&S Operating Standards and Control Processes.

Key accountabilities

  • Analyse, understand and report timely, globally aligned and accurate valuations of trading book pnl, exposure and performance data
  • Deliver reporting and analytics that provide insight into T&S’s business activities in order to support business decision making and strengthen the control environment.
  • Drive continuos improvements for automation, global process standardisation and efficiencies in processes and controls
  • Provide operational input required as part of the process through which new activities and projects considered by the Front Office are being evaluated and approved by gpti
  • Work within a global team environment, participating in ad-hoc projects/analysis as required and provide cover within the team including VaR and market risk accountabilities
  • Own, understand, and apply Commodity Risk policies and procedures
  • Commodity Risk execution of T&S Policy/Procedures and Financial Reporting requirements, involving tax, regulatory and financial disclosures

Requirement

  • Min degree, degree in Finance, Accounting or Maths is desirable.
  • Professional qualification in risk management (i.e. FRM, ERP, or PRM), financial analysis (i.e. CFA), formally recognized Accounting qualification (ACA, CPA, etc.), business or operations research is also desirable.

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Business experience in control within a trading environment
  • Strong discipline, attention to detail and ability to work within a very deadline orientated environment
  • Ability to deploy a variety of communication styles according to the situation and communicate optimally with stakeholders and peers
  • Demonstrated track record of operational improvement and innovation
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Understanding of LNG and European natural gas market drivers and physical assets (e.g. storage capacity, pipelines/interconnects, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy trading markets and instruments
  • Strong analytical skills (the ability to grasp and communicate complex trading transactions into their economic effects)

Desirable criteria & qualifications

  • Experience working in Openlink Endur
  • Relevant experience in European Gas or LNG Commodity Risk, Market Risk, or Trading roles preferred
  • Understanding of risks concepts (e.g. MVaR, Stress Testing, etc.) and complex derivative instruments such as options
  • Solid understanding of ETRM infrastructures and Market and Credit Risk
  • Strong understanding of the Global Gas and LNG markets
