UNSCRIPTED Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based studio that includes architects, interior designers, object and furniture designers. The leadership and core team work across all projects and stages to ensure a high level of quality is achieved from concept design to implementation; we strongly believe in cross-pollination between the different faculties within the studio. Through internal review and collaboration, we challenge convention and seek new solutions to create inspiring outcomes within the luxury and lifestyle hospitality sectors. With an expanding workload we are now searching for an Architect (hotel and resort architectural design) to join our studio.

This is a senior level position requiring a minimum 8 years post-graduation experience, and minimum 4 continuous years of international exposure and experience in one office working in a similar architectural design studio on niche luxury hotel and resort projects of a high and recognizable architectural quality. Your work portfolio shall demonstrate your own work and ability; an alignment with a clean lines modernist, minimalist design aesthetic of Unscripted would be an advantage.

As a Senior Position you shall display an excellent understanding of, and ability in, the design and planning principles of resorts and hotels, planning efficiency and commercial viability, and above all be able to appreciate and interpret the essence of the guest experience in the cross-over nature of this design specialism between architectural, hardscape and interior architectural space. You will be expected to collaborate, develop and execute design solutions for projects under the direction of the partners with the experience and ability to lead design solutions within a project team and delegate work in a timely and constructive manner. You shall gain a thorough understanding of the studio\'s design philosophy and methodology, be able to provide major input in developing a design concept; effectively convey this to the design team, consultants, operators and clients.

This is not an interior design position.

This position requires;

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • proficient AutoCAD or excellent hand-sketching ability
  • an international experience of, and project work in, at least two of the following regions (South East Asia & South Asia/ Middle East & Europe/ the Americas & Caribbean/ Australasia)
  • Your responsibilities will include;
  • take the design lead from partners and be able to work independently to develop all phases of a project including, planning, conceptual and schematic design stages leading through to detailed design
  • work with partners to guide project vision and ensure detailing, finishes, and materials align
  • Hold meetings and presentations; be able to communicate design concepts articulately and concisely to the client, luxury operators (Brands) and all project stakeholders
  • assist in managing client expectations, internal communication and consultant coordination
  • able to work effectively with consultants and specialists alike to meet overall project needs and objectives
  • able to manage sub-consultants (such as Lighting/ Landscape/ Traffic/ Acoustics/ Signage) based overseas
  • work with local architect of record, project management teams and client representatives based overseas to ensure the design intent is accurately understood, interpreted and the design vision is carried through
  • demonstrate a knowledge and ability to resolve complex technical and design issues
  • exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
  • contribute positively and productively to a creative and conducive studio environment focused on delivering a high-quality design service with professionalism
  • pro-actively keep partners informed of work status and seek all necessary clarification as and when appropriate
  • able to identify issues, risks and conflicts and ask for assistance and/or delegate as required
  • mentor and guide the development of intermediate and junior staff
