Job Description


REP is NTU\xe2\x80\x99s flagship engineering programme that aims to nurture engineering leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve society. It is also one of the NTU Premier Scholars Programmes (PSP) to nurture students as future leaders of the industry.

The integrated and fully residential programme covers a broad spectrum of multidisciplinary subjects bridging engineering, business and humanities. This four-and-a-half-year dual-degree programme comprises Bachelor of Engineering Science (with specialisation in a chosen engineering discipline), awarded by College of Engineering; and Master of Science in Technology Management, awarded by Nanyang Business School.

This position will play a significant role to support the pillars of NTU 2025 primarily in Education, Innovation and Community. The position will focus primarily in strengthening the engagement level with the student cohorts to enjoy a vibrant campus life. This position is also required to develop a framework to introduce new experiential activities such as field trips.

The incumbent will focus on student engagement and communications, student outreach, student focus groups to address academic issues, enhance student care, facilitate entrepreneurial activities and build new industry linkages through industry projects and mentoring. The incumbent will also be required to collaborate with new overseas exchange partners and provide overseas attachment administration support.

Key Responsibilities

Student Engagement and Communications

  • Organise regular activities throughout the Semester to enhance inter and intra cohort interaction as well as improve communication with the Programme Office
  • Exercise initiative and introduce new activities to enhance engagement
  • Liaise with the different Engineering Schools and plan and organise specialisation-specific focus groups once per Semester
  • Plan and organise student outreach activities to improve awareness and branding of the programme
  • Analyse trends in student feedback in each semester
  • Organise town halls and follow up on key issues
Student Pastoral Care
  • Identify at-risk students and engage them to improve their well-being
  • Work closely with academic mentors and respective specialisation schools to address academic and non-academic issues
  • Liaise with relevant parties, buddy and family support for at-risk students
  • Monitor their well-being and academic issues throughout the Semester
  • Develop suitable plan for at-risk students
Entrepreneurial Activities of Students
  • Develop a new framework to strengthen the entrepreneurial activities among students, in conjunction with the student club and to achieve the vision of the programme
  • Organise regular sharing sessions with alumni and start-ups
  • Work closely with suitable parties within NTU and external parties to promote a more entrepreneurial culture among the students
  • Analyse students\xe2\x80\x99 feedback and address students\xe2\x80\x99 concerns
Makers Design Project
  • Review the overall framework of Makers Design Project and work closely with the student club to revitalise the project
  • Identify and engage new industry partners to work with the students on new industry projects
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications Department to enhance publicity of the projects
  • Tap on social media platforms to publicise the success of the projects and to recognise industry partners
  • Work closely with industry partners and REP Fellows to harness new technologies or new equipment in Makers Lab to solve engineering problems
  • Oversee the maintenance and upgrading of Makers Lab to create a vibrant tinkering space and to build students\xe2\x80\x99 sense of belonging
Mentoring activities
  • Revamp the current academic mentoring and carry out matching of suitable mentors and mentees
  • Organise suitable activities between mentors and mentees during the Semester
  • Develop new mentoring guides and brief academic mentors
  • Carry out post mentoring surveys and collect feedback and review activities
  • Ensure mentors input their feedback on mentees after mentoring activities
  • Work with suitable industry partners to roll out new industry mentoring initiative
Experiential Activities such as field trips to local companies, overseas trips such as sustainability
  • Develop a framework to introduce new experiential activities to the students
  • Source for industry partners and external vendors to formulate the experiential activities
  • Communicate the activities plan to the student cohorts
  • Plan the logistics for the experiential activities
  • Analyse the feedback after the implementation of experiential activities and improve on the plan
Overseas Exchange Liaison
  • Act as a conduit between Programme Office and students during their 1-year overseas exchange and monitor their well-being
  • Plan regular communications and engagement activities
  • Key partner liaison for new overseas partner and set up framework for working with new overseas partners and set up process
  • Provide administration support for overseas professional attachment and to coordinate with new overseas partners on the process and adhere to visa regulations overseas
  • Carry out a holistic programme administrative role and be responsible for activities related to overseas exchange and local exchange, budget review, scholarship support/queries and liaison with the respective overseas partner universities on curriculum, course matching, students, accommodation sourcing and financial matters
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience
  • Good knowledge of business management with some interest in engineering subjects
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with cultural sensitivity towards staff and students of different cultural backgrounds
  • Nurturing, resourceful, analytical, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Meticulous and excellent organisational skills
Team player with strong ability to multitask and deliver timely with quality
