The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Senior Assistant Manager to manage the ThermoFluids & Marine Engineering Cluster laboratory operation and activities. The candidate is responsible for the daily administrative, technical & research activities, including operation of all research equipment and to ensure the smooth and safe functioning of the laboratory. Candidate will need to oversee the safety standards in the lab in compliance to ISO 45001 standard. Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership in 2 to 3 Labs, enabling the faculty, research staff and students to accomplish their academic and research activities effectively and efficiently as well as in compliance with all rules and regulations of governmental agencies.

Provide technical and administrative support for all undergraduate and research Lab operations.

Carry out all teaching planning to supports all laboratory experiments and projects.

Financial Management and perform procurement of materials & equipment required for laboratory and research projects.

Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.

Ensure safety & security compliance and housekeeping in the laboratories.

Conduct safety risk assessment and safe work procedure (SWP) for all equipment and processes.

Ensure laboratory equipment are properly maintained, safe to operate and in good working condition and lab\xe2\x80\x99s resources is sufficient to function as a teaching/ research laboratory.

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering with at least 6 years or Diploma in Mechanical or chemical engineering with at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge in the handling of engines/ powerplant or;

Knowledge in Chemicals Management and Control

Able to conduct and implement risk management and safe work procedures.

Financial management skills to facilitate budget preparation.

Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of workplace safety including ISO 45001:2018.

Knowledge of government procurement policies is preferred.
