What the role is:The Economic Programmes Directorate in MOF works closely with economic agencies to strengthen Singapore's economic competitiveness and advance Singapore's interests as a key global node of technology, innovation and enterprise. We determine how resources (including grants, tax incentives, loans, equity, and other tools) are optimally allocated across economic programmes to realise value for Singapore, including good growth and job creation. We also formulate policies to nurture a pro-business and trusted business environment which is conducive for business renewal and growth. In addition, we conduct data analysis on the business environment and firms' needs and work closely with IRAS to build functional leadership on broad-based disbursements to businesses.What you will be working on:You will be part of a dynamic and collegial team that shapes and funds national priorities around economic recovery and transformation. Examples of areas that the team looks at are as follows: 1. Strategising, managing, prioritising, and allocating Singapore's investments in economic development to realise maximum outcomes for Singapore from our economic budget. 2. Enabling and aligning economic agencies (e.g. MTI family, MOE, MOM, NRF, NCCS, IMDA) in economic development, in areas ranging from investment promotion, growing local firms, to upskilling/reskilling workers, and strengthening our innovation ecosystem. Policy areas include productivity, internationalisation, Research, Innovation and Enterprise initiatives, digitalisation, jobs and skills, and climate change mitigation/carbon pricing. 3. Spearheading strategic partnership with private sector players in equity financing and project financing, to support Singapore-based companies to scale up. 4. Harnessing multiple levers to advance Singapore's interests and positioning as a global business centre, e.g. policy innovation, financing approaches, legislation, regulatory frameworks, and strategic partnerships.What we are looking for:
