Department Overview: Ashurst's Global Business Development and Marketing (BD&M) team is located in major cities across EMEA, Asia Pacific and the US. We execute the firm's clients and markets strategy by driving profitable growth with a specific focus on our chosen products, sectors and priority clients. We focus on identifying and generating leads, improving client experience, driving marketing campaigns, leveraging data analytics and client insights, enhancing operational excellence and building out new BD&M capabilities. We are a diverse team spanning the range of business to business, professional services and hands-on industry expertise. Role Overview: Ashurst's South East Asia practice comprises of Ashurst Singapore, Ashurst ADTLaw (our Formal Law Alliance in Singapore) and Oentoeng Suria & Partners (our associated office in Jakarta), which has been growing rapidly in the past 3 years. The BDE Executive will provide high quality and effective support for the practice to develop and execute business development and marketing initiatives relating to the division's strategy, as well as opportunities with key clients of the firm. The BD Executive will operate as an integral part of Ashurst's global BD team providing specialist skills, and crucially will have a positive attitude to working with teams throughout the firm and in relation to continuous personal development. Main Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Senior BDM and BDM to support the delivery of the South East Asia go-to-market plan, leading on the implementation of certain workstreams, with guidance from the managers
  • Work closely with lawyers and relevant BD leads to deliver pitch materials as required, often to very tight deadlines
  • Prepare and maintain marketing materials, including web/intranet content, client publications, sales material and capability statements
  • Support across the entire bidding process, including maintaining bid databases, tracking progress and outcomes
  • Support across the entire credential collection process and ensuring South East Asia requirements for data capture are met
  • Support the delivery of directory/awards/league table submissions, ensuring key messaging is included and all deadlines are met
  • Support the internal and external profile raising initiatives across South East Asia including our approach to publications/briefings, thought leadership, alignment with industry bodies, prioritisation and organisation of industry conferences, working closely with the PR, social media and events teams
  • Support the delivery of client account strategies, and contribute to efforts relating to cross-selling, opportunity pipeline development, pursuit management, pricing and negotiation strategy
  • Proactively track market and client developments and trends, spotting revenue generation opportunities and work with the BDM to drive those opportunities to a successful conclusion
  • Undertake external and internal research, business analysis and competitor intelligence to support client facing meetings, pursuits and proposals
  • Ensure client reporting, terms and panel and pricing agreements are communicated and adhered to internally
  • Assist with the coordination of the client secondment process, keeping track of secondments, looking for trends and opportunities in feedback and ensuring that best practice is being adhered to
  • Regularly review BD&M systems and processes and suggest improvements to drive efficiencies
  • Assist in the management of BD&M budgets, ensuring spend is aligned to business plans
  • Respond to requests from colleagues in other jurisdictions for BD support
  • Contribute to central BD&M team initiatives, including supporting new systems and processes, and support the global team on projects, as required
  • Develop excellent working relationships across the relevant Partner team, BD&M teams and other support functions
  • Develop a good knowledge and understanding of the legal industry and marketplace, and the firm's key service offerings and product areas
  • Assist with any other ad hoc requests as required
Essential skills and experience:
  • 2 years of front line Business Development experience in professional service industry
  • Tertiary qualification in business or relevant degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organisational, project management and delivery skills
  • Commercial awareness and ability to bring the client's perspective into the frame
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to switch between detail and the bigger picture
  • Positive attitude toward work and a desire to learn and develop
  • A team player - flexible in their approach to work and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Enthusiastic and proactive, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy
Desired skills and experience
  • Fluent in Indonesian Bahasa
  • Prior experience in the professional services sector
  • Experience with CRM software, such as InterAction
