This role requires a deep understanding of data governance principles, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to improve data quality, integrity, and compliance.How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

  • Data quality management: Analyze data quality issues and develop strategies to improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data quality metrics, monitor data quality, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement data governance strategies: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement data governance strategies aligned with organizational goals. This includes defining data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish data governance processes: Define and establish data governance processes and workflows, including data capture, storage, maintenance, and archiving. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Data classification and categorization: Define data classification and categorization frameworks to enable effective data governance. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify critical data elements, assign ownership, and establish data access controls.
  • Stakeholder management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to gather requirements, understand data-related challenges, and develop data governance solutions. Act as a liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Data governance training and awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance data governance awareness and understanding across the organization. Provide guidance and support to business users on data governance practices and tools.

  • Balancing data governance with business agility by striking the right balance between implementing robust data governance practices and maintaining business agility. Data governance processes should not hinder the organization\'s ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs and market demands.
  • Gaining stakeholder buy-in to implement effective data governance requires collaboration from various stakeholders across the organization. Building strong relationships and effectively communicating the benefits of data governance are essential in overcoming this challenge.
  • Managing data complexity by ensuring data governance processes can handle diverse data types, formats, and structures.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of data governance: Establishing metrics and measuring the effectiveness of data governance initiatives can be challenging. The Senior Business Analyst must define relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and establish monitoring mechanisms to assess the impact of data governance efforts accurately.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related discipline is typically expected. Specialized certifications in data governance, data management, or related areas (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Information Privacy Professional) can be beneficial.
  • Strong Analytical Skills to assess complex data governance challenges, identify patterns and trends in data, and derive actionable insights. Should be proficient in data analysis techniques and have the ability to translate data into meaningful recommendations for data governance improvement.
  • Data Governance Knowledge: A deep understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: should have a solid technical foundation and be proficient in data management tools, data analysis tools, and data governance software. Proficiency in SQL and data query languages is beneficial.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial. They should be able to effectively communicate complex data governance concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: The Senior Business Analyst should be a skilled problem solver with the ability to think critically and logically. They should have a proactive approach to identifying and resolving data governance challenges, and the ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Attention to Detail: Data governance requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data. The Senior Business Analyst should have a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify data anomalies and inconsistencies.
  • Relevant Experience: should have a solid background in business analysis with a focus on data governance. Typically, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in roles related to data management, data governance, or data analysis is expected. This experience should include hands-on involvement in implementing data governance practices, establishing data quality frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Data Governance Tools and Technologies: Experience with data governance tools and technologies, such as data cataloging tools, metadata management tools, data quality tools, and data lineage tools, is valuable. Familiarity with industry-leading data governance platforms and their functionalities can be beneficial.
  • Project Management Experience: Previous experience in managing data governance projects or involvement in large-scale data-related projects is desirable. Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools can contribute to the successful execution of data governance initiatives. Also, Sr. Business Analyst should possess project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and monitor data governance initiatives. They should be able to define project scope, develop project plans, manage resources, and ensure timely delivery of milestones and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong skills in stakeholder management and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders are important. Experience in engaging with business units, IT teams, senior management, and external stakeholders is beneficial.
  • Strong Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for the Senior Business Analyst to effectively communicate complex data governance concepts, facilitate workshops, and deliver training sessions. The ability to present information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required to identify data governance challenges, perform root cause analysis, and develop effective solutions. The ability to think critically, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions is important.
