Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst/ Principal Analyst
Intro
We are seeking a highly skilled individual, specializing in flood model development and implementation in re/insurance sector, to join us and support the delivery of flood risk solutions within our Asia-Pacific team. The candidate will be responsible for data and model development as well as validation of our probabilistic flood models.
Your role
In any given week you may be working on a range of client projects in addition to product development within the company. You will be working closely with colleagues in a variety of teams across the company including those in product development and Analytics. You will shape and deliver models that help re/insurers understand and manage flood risk, while also contributing to business development through client engagement.
The role sits within the JBA Risk Management Singapore office and requires a candidate with strong technical skills capable of multi-tasking time sensitive projects in any given week. Work can involve a mix of data analysis, statistics, GIS, hydrology, hydraulic modelling and technical writing as the candidate provides dedicated support to consultancy projects in areas including (but not limited to) flood risk assessments and catastrophe modelling.
The team member we're looking for
Interactions with JBA's global client base takes place on a daily basis and the candidate will be expected to present technical work. As our work involves managing multiple project deadlines, this position will suit someone who picks up new skills quickly, is enthusiastic, organised, and a strong team player.
Essential Technical Skills
Postgraduate degree in either Hydrology, Hydraulics, Hydroinformatics, Meteorology, Earth Sciences, or a similar field.
Strong background and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling.
Proven skills in GIS platforms (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS).
Experience validating flood hazard and loss models.
Proficient in Python/R and Linux command line scripting.
Familiarity with AI/ML methods as applied to weather and climate data.
Experienced user of MS Office 365 suite of tools (e.g. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, OneNote, Teams).

Desirable
PhD degree in a related discipline.
Knowledge of probability theory and statistics.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks
Previous business development experience
Training will be provided where necessary.
