About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a new role at Swiss Re. The Client Underwriter will focus on selecting top clients and building a portfolio that outperforms the market benchmark.

A successful Senior Client Underwriter will combine world class origination, client management and Underwriting Excellence skills to develop and foster client relations across all executive and management levels.

Key responsibilities may include

• End-to-end underwriting analyses of core treaty business including risk selection, costing including natural perils, contracts review and structuring; incorporating and improving relevant technology to make informed decisions
• Grow the business by developing traditional, structured or Solutions opportunities in the portfolio in collaboration with relevant specialists and driving toward the principle of "right service right client
• Anticipate and understanding competitor products as well as industry, economic and market trends
• Collaborating with Product Underwriters on the evaluation of treaties, decisive actions within your assigned treaties to meet standards and guidelines

We serve the dynamic and growing insurance markets of South-East Asia and India-Subcontinent with clients of well-established international brands as well as local established market players.

About You

You have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills. You have exceptional communication and client management skills that help you build and develop relationships with clients and brokers.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with proven technical capability in insurance/reinsurance underwriting, portfolio and/or client management
• Proficient in the English language, and command of a South-East Asian language is advantageous
• Proven self-starter who works proactively with internal teams to deliver client solutions
• Travel required 20-25%

Internal candidates

• Minimum Level 1 Client Underwriting Authority (or equivalent) or willingness to acquire
• Additional critical technical skills, contractual knowledge, strategic mindset, market intelligence, portfolio steering, product knowledge, risk assessment & appetite
• Additional critical non-technical skills, business acumen, client management, consultancy skills, judgement & decision making, negotiation skills
